Kevin Jordan’s Secret to Arm Training

Ever heard of the saying: Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach? That doesn’t quite apply to Kevin Jordan when it comes to arm training. In this featured video, he talks about his own training, and also exposes perhaps the most common mistake in arm training. Kevin Jordan knows exactly what he’s talking about, because the first few frames in the video shows just how massive his arms are. Those arms are as solid and large as tree trunks! He talked about how people often approached him about the size of his arms, and when you see it for yourself in the video you’ll understand why.

Learning from Experience

When Kevin Jordan first started in arm training, he would focus on it multiple times throughout the week. He averaged about 3 arm training workouts a week, involving lots of sets.  He now realizes that such a workout regimen for the arms is overtraining. He came to this realization after discussing the subject with other experts and also basing it on his experiences with his own clients. And he also recognizes that he’s not the only one to make this common mistake. Even today, people simply do too much training for the arms.

Proper Arm Training

The thing with the arms is that they’re a small muscle group. They will always get a little bit of a workout anyway when you’re working on the bigger body parts such as the shoulders, chest and the back. So you don’t really have to do too much specific training for the arms.

All you need is perhaps some arm training once a week. You definitely should maintain your intensity, but the number of exercises can be less. Kevin Jordan himself only does three exercises with 4 sets each. He keeps it short and simple, with no extra fuss. Check out the video for snippets as to what kind of exercises he does for his arms.

Kevin Jordan also acknowledges that people’s individual muscle groups react differently. His arms really responds to his training—it’s just one of those things, as he says himself. It’s the body part that he’s quite proud of, as he rightly should be. But you should also try to keep things proportional as well.

The Importance of Arm Training

While you may not be able to develop arms as massive as what Kevin Jordan has, it’s still crucial that you engage in arm training properly. In bodybuilding competitions, the arms always stand out, especially with the right poses. But even if you don’t participate in bodybuilding competitions, having bigger and stronger arms is a great advantage in many types of sports where strength is an asset. Arm strength is also crucial in daily activities as well. You need strong arms to lift children up in the air. You need that strength when you’re carrying your groceries, and you may find yourself having to lift heavy furniture.

And besides, your arms are perhaps one of the most visible signs of strength. By training properly, you can build more massive arms that can even sweep the ladies off their feet, figuratively and literally!
