Athletes on Steroids – A List of Famous Athletes Caught Cheating

Steroids are drugs that can boost muscle mass, increase strength, enhance endurance and even accelerate recovery. For athletes, this is something of a perfect storm and can greatly help them to perform better in their chosen sports – so it’s no wonder that so many have secretly opted to use these substances to get an edge.

The problem? Steroids are not only dangerous but they are also illegal and banned by almost all major sporting organizations. This means that the athletes using them are doing so illicitly and it also means that they have a big advantage over all the other sports stars who are playing by the rules.

Knowing that your favorite sporting hero has been getting a little extra help on the side is painful but it’s better to know. Remember: steroids aren’t magic and those athletes still had to put in a lot of work to achieve what they have. It’s just a shame that they sullied their good reputations this way…

Floyd Landis

Floyd Landis was a professional cyclist for only seven years by the time he won the 2006 Tour de France. He surprised everyone when two cyclist needed to withdraw and he came out on top.

But victory was fleeting for Landis. After his incredibly performance, a urine test was taken and came back positive for high levels of testosterone. We all know what that means! Landis claimed that there were inconsistencies in the way the urine test was carried out but there’s no denying the fact that he was caught red handed.

Roger Clemens

Jose Canseco is another very infamous steroid user having publicly outed not only himself but also a lot of his fellow team mates in the book Juiced. One of those named was Clemens, who initially dismissed the claim.

In the Mitchell Report on steroids in baseball, Clemens’ name came up again though. 82 times in fact. Not only did he use anabolic steroids but also human growth hormone and amphetamines. Coach Brian McNamee says that he injected Clemens with Winstrol all throughout 1998-2001. As a result, Clemens’ name has been removed from a number of charitable organizations and he may also be denied his spot in the hall of fame.

Mark McGwire

McGwire battled against Chicago Cub Sammy Sosa for the MLB home run record and won – hitting a total of 70 home runs in just one season. Probably then Sosa is feeling a little cheated due to his competitor’s alleged steroid use!

Unlike others on this list, McGwire has never openly admitted to using steroids. However, he was another named in Juiced and he refused to answer questions under oath during testimony in front of the House Government Reform Committee.

Bodybuilders

That’s a pretty big list but yeah… pretty much all IFBB pro bodybuilders are using steroids. While steroids are technically banned from the sport of bodybuilding, the tests are designed in such a way that they can be easily circumvented. Competitors get lots of advance warning before tests and in general the organizers turn a ‘blind eye’ to their use.

If you want to get steroid like results without any of their negative side effects, Crazy Bulk is what you should consider. Crazy Bulk is a company that provides a complete range of bulking and cutting steroids that can help you get amazing results without causing any internal damage to your body.

One of the most popular and legal steroids for athletes is Winsol, which mimics steroid Winstrol or Stanozolol. Its excellent for increasing strength, speed, power, and agility. It’s not just great for athletes but is also ideal for bodybuilders looking for a suitable cutting steroid. Moreover, it can be used by both men and women.
