How to Get Cut and Ripped Arms

If you want to have biceps that will turn heads then it’s not enough to simply build their size. Just as important is to make sure your arms look ripped and shredded so that your startled onlookers can make out all the veins and striations that will make them look truly huge.

But making biceps that are both ripped and massive isn’t easy. This isn’t just a matter of doing bicep curls until you can’t feel your arms anymore – you need to get scientific…

Being Shredded

The first thing to understand here is that being ripped isn’t really about the exercises you do for your biceps at all. You can’t ‘target’ fat loss, which means that the fat won’t come off you in the order you want it to based on which exercises you’re using. Rather than using specific exercises targeting the biceps then, you really just want to use general CV/aerobic training which will increase your heart rate and breathing and help you to burn more calories and more stored fat.

Also important is to put your body in a generally ‘anabolic state’. This means it will be burning fat while at the same time building muscle. The two most reliable ways to put yourself in this state are to sleep, and to do a workout. You can further help your body though with other lifestyle changes (taking hot showers, going for runs), diet (steak is great) and supplementation.

The Ripped Bicep Workout

This is what will give you a generally more lean and ripped body which will affect your biceps as well as various other parts of your body. Now though you want to make sure that your biceps are looking as detailed and as developed as possible through that thin layer of flesh.

To accomplish this you want to use a range of different bicep exercises that will target the muscles in a range of different ways and from numerous different angles. Adding a twist to your regular bicep curls can help, as can using ‘drag curls’ where you pull your arms back while curling to target the bicep head more. Using a pronated (overhand) grip meanwhile, can help you to engage the forearms more.

Remember that your ‘arms’ are not just made of biceps either. To give yourself truly impressive looking guns you really need to make sure you are targeting all of the muscle groups in the limb. That should include your forearms, your deltoids and your triceps. Triceps, in fact, should actually make up 2/3rds of your arm and be the larger muscles when showing off a bicep peak. Make sure then that you also incorporate exercises like lateral raises, rear deltoid laterals, forward raises, shoulder presses, tricep dips, tricep kick-backs and wrist curls. This will help to make your arm look much more detailed and intricate while helping it to swell from every angle.

Now eat a diet high in lean protein and low in fast carbs and you’ll be able to capitalise on that hard work for a ripped and massive bicep.
